King Illest: I Don’t Need Artists Approval for my Music

South side rapper King Illest has told off Zambian artists wishing off his music. The ‘Bakalala’ hit maker says he needs no approval from artists because he creates music for his fans and not fellow artists.

In a hard hitting tweet, the Tonga trap rapper said he knows and considers himself a dope rapper.

“I never make music for fellow artists to approve of, truth is if you have paid close attention I came in the game without anyone’s approval, approval am looking for is the fan's if they love it am fulfilled bottom line is I don’t make music for musicians,” he said.

While narrating his journey in music, he says he was just about to give up after releasing many songs without any of them going places. Then, his last release flipped the narrative and set out the path for him.

He further noted that he owes his success to the resilience he held back when he was trying hard to make it in the industry.

Meanwhile, King Illest recently released a new song titled ‘Thick As Thieves’ featuring South African rapper DaL.E.S. In his usual Style, King Illest dropped deep hip-hop beats which are amplified by his fast bars.

Opulence, a flashy lifestyle and classy damsels dot the song’s video all through. These are a statement that King Illest makes with all his songs. His song’s videos speak of style, class and a soft life that many envy.
