Wezi Heartsound ‘Champion’ ft All Stars: New Music Zambia [Official Video]

A crossbreed of Zambian artists – secular and gospel – led by Wezi Heartsound have come together and released a patriotic song dubbed ‘Champions’ to mark the 57th Zambian Independence Day.
This year’s Independence Day celebration’s theme was ‘celebrating the new dawn anchored on good governance, national unity and development’. It is the first under UNPD party led by President Hakainde Hichilema.

‘Champions’ features Esther Chungu, Pompi, B Flow, Cleo Ice Queen and Chef 187. Gospel star Mag 44 produced the song.
The new song brings the Zambian culture to the fore through a series of traditional instruments playing in the backgrounds. The lyrics are laced with patriotic words; words of hope and inspiration while praising the Zambian spirit.
Wezi says that its theme is courage because they supported HNPD over PF party led by former President Edgar Lungu.
“We stood for what was right! We stood for what we believed in! We overcame/triumphed and we continue to stand for what we desire for our nation! Tiyende Pamodzi Ndi Mutima Umo! Happy Independence Day Zambia!” she said.

‘Champions’ by Wezi came a few days after Macky 2 also released a patriotic song ‘One Zambia One Nation’. The song by the All Stars such as Mampi, Judy Yo, Macky 2, Chef 187, Slap Dee and Pilato among others champions for unity.
They say that for the last 57 years, Zambians have been each other’s keeper and this should never change. The five-minute long song praises the spirit of resilience, harmony and peace that is characteristic of the Zambian people.
