Tim Godfrey and Joe Praise are two of the most popular Nigerian gospel musicians today.

Both aged 42, the duo have dominated the Naija Gospel music industry for close to two decades and are well known because of the number of hit singles they have released over time. We take a look at how the two compare against each other.

Tim Godfrey who has been active in music since 2003 has over 30 awards and nominations, among them a nomination for Best International Artist at the Premier Gospel Awards (2019), Male artiste of the year at Africa Gospel Awards (AGAFEST) 2019, Nine nominations at the Crystal Award 2015, NEA Award U.S.A. for the Best Gospel Artist/Group of the year 2012 and Eight nominations at the Africa Gospel Awards (AGAFEST) 2018.

Joe Praize on the other hand has a number of awards and nominations to his name. Some of the awards include the Song of the Year Award 2010, nomination for Best African Gospel by SABC Crown Gospel Awards 2010, winner Best West Africa at the Africa Gospel Music Awards UK 2011, the Love World Awards 2011 for Worship Song of the Year, best artiste of the year at the crystal award Nigeria, best gospel song at the Coson awards Nigeria and lifetime achievement at the gospel music awards Italy.

Tim Godfrey has a rich discography with 5 albums. He released his debut album ‘iWorship’ and ‘Audience of one’ in 2014 followed by ‘Fearless’ (2017), ‘Nara’ (2019), ‘Fearless Wship’ (2020) and the 2021 released ‘Already Won’.

Joe Praize also has 5 studio albums; Mighty God, Alpha Omega, My Praise, All the praise, and Most High, as well as two compilation albums and several live albums.

Tim Godfrey is best known for his song Nara, a collaboration with Travis Greene. Other hit singles from him include Na You Be God, Iyo, So Good and Okaka.

Joe Praize on the other hand rose to popularity following the release of his hit song ‘Mighty God’ off his debut album My Praise. Other popular songs from him include ‘Unchangeable’, ‘Miracle Papa’ and ‘Alpha Omega’.
