A tweet by a tweep trying to paint DJ Tira as an entertainer who has contributed nothing to Mzansi music industry has stirred a fierce debate in the country.

For the better part of Tuesday October 12, Mzansi had so much to say regarding DJ Tira’s contribution to South Africa’s music industry.

The tweep ‘Minister One’ shared a collage of four images of Tira, DJ Black Coffee, Kabz De Small and DJ Maphorisa. He then asked fans to delete one of them who they feel has done less in supporting South Africa’s music industry.

It is then that some tweeps quickly said that they would remove Tira who has been in the game for 21 years. His name was mentioned repeatedly forcing his fan base to come through in his defense.

One of DJ Tira’s fans said that it is mind-boggling that those born in 2000s are the people discrediting DJ Tira. “I can understand why a 2k (kid born in the 2000s) would discredit Tira's work, they're young and they're the drivers of the piano wave, but if you're over 30, ufuna ukubukwa (you just want to be seen) cause you know exactly what DJ Tira has done for the music industry and that can never be taken away from him, give the man his flowers!” wrote the tweep in Tira’s defence.

Another tweep said it was wrong comparing DJ Tira with another person because he has nurtured many big names in Mzansi. “Tira shouldn't be compared with DJs that are still very much active in the industry. Compare him with abo Oskido, DJ Cleo nabo DJ Sbu.”

“Tira has opened so many doors for other people in the industry, please respect him,” added another tweep.
