I can only equate her debut into the Kenyan music industry with birth of Prince William’s son, George. One - because it was the birth of new fantasies for the male lot and two, because her debut single was ‘Mtoto’, which is Swahili for child. Ladies, gentlemen and the not so gentle, am talking about nightingale Victoria Kimani, Chocolate City’s golden girl, who also happens to be the 13th most downloaded artist on the Mdundo 2014 charts!

She may not have been legally or customary been sworn in as Queen but her busy schedule and victories gives her the right for the title she bestowed upon herself. Queen Victoria had a smooth year full of new tracks and collaborations that proved that she is indeed locally accepted and internationally recognized. Her, mixtape, ‘Queen Victoria’ was a music meal that lasted for an eternity feeding all her fans acoustic hunger while she followed the singles with videos. Remember her video with Tanzanians Ommy Dimpoz and Diamond? This was more than just a video, but a masterpiece!

As if that’s not a handful already, she also launched her reality series ‘The Rise of Queen Victoria’ which gave her fans a chance to follow and keep up with her busy lifestyle. Like all good work, nominations and awards followed her after all these and  she ended the year at an even higher note - the note of her video, ‘Show’ which featured South African rapper AKA!

Good year? Good is such an understatement when it comes to describing the run Victoria had in 2014, considering no matter how fast she ran she never dropped the crown.
