Fuse ODG Reveals Why Ghanaian Artistes Do Not Need Grammy Awards

Fuse ODG, one of the most influential Ghanaian international music artistes recently questioned many artistes’ obsession with the Grammy Awards. 

The UK based singer is of the view that Ghanaian musicians are full of talent and much bigger than the Grammys and focusing only on this award limits their achievements. Fuse ODG opines that their interest should be in displaying what they can do to showcase their talent to the entire world.

Furthermore, he indicated that there are numerous artistes, who have attained greater milestones in the industry without the Grammys and this should be the primary objective of Ghanaian musicians.

In his words, “I think we need to be careful so we don’t equate the Grammy’s to talent. Ghana has some of the best talents that the world has ever seen. In the afrobeats scene, Ghana has contributed next to Nigeria more than any other country in the world. We have broken records that nobody has ever broken before. So Ghana to me, is way above the Grammys.”

The Antenna hitmaker cited Bob Marley, one of the music icons, as among the greatest artistes in the global music industry who did not need a Grammy for their influence to be felt. According to Fuse, focusing on winning Grammys is a waste of energy; instead, Ghanaians should rather celebrate their achievements in the music industry.
