How did Mampi begin her music career?

From the age of six, Mampi already loved singing and joined her church choir. When she was 14, her mother passed on. Two years later, her father also passed on and this pushed her to realize that she was good at music. Despite the pain of losing her parents and being forced out of college and having to live all by herself, she nurtured her passion for music. 

In 2003, a music producer working with Sounds Investments/SlingBeat Entertainment label spotted her and signed her to the label. The label nurtured her talent and in 2005, she released her first album ‘Malozi’ which thrust her into the limelight.

In 2007, Mampi released her second album ‘Chimo ni Chimo’ loosely translating to ‘Sin is Sin’ in English. This album booked her a huge performance in Windhoek, Namibia in 2012, the same year that she released her third album titled ‘Natural Born Star’. One of her biggest tunes ‘Walilowelela’ was released then. It was such a huge song that Portuguese singer, Luyanna, did a version of the song. 

She has performed in big concerts in and out of Zambia and worked with big corporations such as Airtel. Mampi has worked with big artists in Zambia and beyond. Back home, she has featured in Macky 2 and Chef 187’s songs as well as Judy Yo.
