Popular Ghanaian Entertainment commentator Nana Frimpong Ziega has advised top rapper Sarkodie to fuse his music with the new Ghanaian drill trend to retain his relevance.

Ghana’s drill genre originated from the south side of Chicago. It was popularised by the late American rapper Pope Smoke. After his sudden demise, a group of young talented Ghanaian rappers known as the Kumasi movement, took the genre by heart. Inspired by the late rapper, the group infused the local sounds to the UK-American drill creating the ‘Asakaa drill’.

According to Nana ‘If Sarkodie decides to use his old trend to battle Kumerica’s Asakaa trend he will have a lot of work to do when Yaw Tog completes Senior High School. In his own opinion, Ziega has noted that for any artist to survive in the industry, they have to be on-trend or risk losing relevance. ’I was expecting Sarkodie to do the drill music because whether he likes it or not, the Asakaa music genre has come to stay’’
