Top Ugandan artist Nina Roz has hit out at her colleagues who’ve been requesting for financial support from the government, noting that the associations are causing division among artists.

Speaking during a recent interview, Nina Roz said Ugandan artists are no longer united as  all are keen to form a body that’ll receive relief funds from the government.

"We first take away the fact that we are artists and look at ourselves as common people. We are embarrassing ourselves and now people can tell that we have been pretending. The frequent trips have caused divisions within the artists causing them to come up with a number of associations for each to get a cut.

"Those days, a collaboration with Jose Chameleone meant that you are friends but in no time, you're no longer friends because of money. This is a personal problem and I think we should look within ourselves. If we don't do that, we won't go anywhere. We are all Ugandans but the ego is causing the division between us," Nina Roz said.

She made the remarks after a group of artists recently travelled to Gulu, where they met Operation Wealth Creation boss Gen. Salim Saleh for relief funds.

The visit has created a lot of debate in the country, with some artists backing it, while others have opposed the meeting.

Early this week, Feffe Bussi released a jam dubbed ‘Gulu’; documenting the meeting.
