Wezi Heartsound, Macky 2 Lead Zambian Artists in Mourning Kenneth Kaunda

Zambian artists are yet to come to terms with the death of the country’s founding father the late Dr Kenneth Kaunda. He has been celebrated for his selfless nature where he led the fight for independence from British colonial rulers.

Eulogising the deceased, Wezi Heartsound noted that the late Kaunda inspired her in differect aspects of life.

“Dr. Kenneth Kaunda is such an inspiration to me! When you see oppression amongst the people you call your fellow citizens, even if you are the underdog, your conviction that ‘better is possible’ will give you the drive to fight. “He was an activist against the spread of HIV/AIDS in Zambia. He loved Zambian sports and supported them but what stood out the most for me was how much he believed in the unity of Zambia and Africa! He used his influence creatively to inspire peace, unity and love! He used his voice and spoke up for justice and equality! I’ll forever be inspired by him,” she said.

Oc Oscillaton said: “Africa’s Champion and Zambia’s founding father. Thank you for your life and contribution to Africa and the world at large. Rest in heaven.”

Macky 2 wrote: “Father of the Nation…Rest Well Mwemfumu.”

The late Kaunda dies earlier this week at the age of 97. He was instrumental in fostering peace and championing for unity in Southern Africa.
