Clarisse Karasira has released a new song ‘Umutima W'u Rwanda ‘that is a benchmark on what patriotism should be about for Rwandans. ‘Umutima W'u Rwanda’ borrows heavily from the aftermath of the 1994 Rwandan genocide that took 800,000 lives in a period of 100 days.
On April 7, Rwanda commemorates the lost lives and emphasizes on the need for communities to stay in harmony. With ‘Umutima W'u Rwanda’, Karasira spread the same message but in musical form accompanied by her traditional musical them.
Instruments can be heard on the background as she sings out the lyrics slowly to drive the message home. On her YouTube channel, she emphasized on why the 1994 genocide will remain a part of Rwanda’s history years to come.
“Bigora buri wese uzi neza amateka y'u Rwanda by'umwihariko Genocide yakorewe abatutsi muri 1994 kwiyumvisha u Rwanda rwa none. Ni Inshoberamahanga kubona abanyarwanda tubanye amahoro, dusangira, dushyingirana, ndetse duseka nyuma y'ibihe bigoye twanyuzemo. Nyuma y'igihe cyinini nanjye mbyibazaho nasanze hari ibanga nise ''UMUTIMA W' u Rwanda" rituma umunyarwanda aba umuntu wihariye kandi icyo yashaka cyose yakigeraho.
“Umutima w'u Rwanda ni Imbabazi, Kudacika intege, kwihesha agaciro, gukora cyane, kureba kure, ndetse no guharanira ukuri. Iyi ndirimbo ni Impano yanjye ku banyarwanda no kubibutsa ko Imbere ari heza kurusha ho ni dukomeza Umutima w'u Rwanda,” she said.
