Why Alick Macheso Doesn’t Want to Join Politics

Alick Macheso; one of Zimbabwe’s most revered Sungura music maestro wants nothing to do with politics. Macheso who has made a name for himself in the music industry says he feels contented with the blessing of being an artiste.
He recently dismissed rumours that he is eyeing a political position by vying for Gutu West Parliamentary seat.
The reports first appeared on social media and they circulated wildly, with many speaking of supporting him while others dismissed his alleged bid to contest the seat.

Macheso came forward through his manager Tich Makahamadze dismissing the reports adding that politics is not something he considers even in the near future.

‘Makahamadze’ termed the reports ridiculous. Macheso has since maintained a low public profile due to the Covid-19 pandemic and spends most of his time at his farm in Chivhu.
Macheso debuted his solo career in 1998 and still going strong more than two decades later.

He released a new single in December last year as a Christmas gift for his fans who have stood with him through thick and thin.
However, just like many other artistes, Macheso has been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic which has seen concerts shut down. He prefers to spend more time with his family as he writes more music which he will release within the year.
