Renowned Ugandan musician Karole Kasita has encouraged fellow artists to shun violence, and embrace music as a tool of piling pressure on the government to re-open entertainment joints.

According to Karole Kasita, music is a powerful tool and can bring the much-needed change without causing any harm or confrontations.

"There are ways you can talk to the government without causing commotion or attacking government on the streets. There are ways you can communicate because you have a lot of power that can bring change," She said.

Karole Kasita is of the view that any artist who needs to address the government should do so via a recorded video to avoid confrontation.

"Just get your phone at your home and record a video telling the government whatever you want them to know and they will listen. I'm sorry for those who were hit but it was a wrong move." Karole Kasita spoke in an interview with NBS.

Kasita's statement comes after a group of Ugandan artists were rounded up and beaten by police in Gulu while they were demanding to be allowed back on stage.

The Ugandan government banned concerts and public shows in March 2020 due to the corona virus pandemic and is yet to issue re-opening guidelines one year later.

This has not augured well with artists who are now feeling neglected.
