Wizkid is arguably one of Africa’s biggest artists and the most decorated Nigerian artists ever.
The Nigerian singer-songwriter is also considered the most revolutionary Afro-pop artist of the modern era.
We take a look at some of his top trending songs off his most recent album ‘Made In Lagos’ that was released ON October 30, 2020;
Smile – featuring HER
This is a lead single for the album which features American R&B singer H.E.R.
‘Smile’ debuted at number 3 in the first week of launch of the Uk Afrobeats Singles chart and was also featured on Barack Obama’s 2020 summer playlist.
No Stress
Released on September 17, 2020, Wizkid used this song to announce the release date for the ‘Made in Lagos’ album .
The album was to be unveiled on October 15 but had to be delayed for a fortnight due to the much-publicized nationwide End SARS protests.
Essence – featuring Tems
‘Essence’ is an infectious track that brought together Wizkid and Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer.
The song toped the BBC 1Xtra Airplay Chart on January 30, 2021 apart from being the only rack from an African artists to be listed among Barack Obama’s Favorite Music of 2020.
Ginger – featuring Burna Boy
This song has already been billed as the biggest collaboration – as it brought together two of the biggest artists in Nigeria – Burna Boy and Wizkid .
‘Ginger’ has a number of records tat it set: it became the only charting single off the album in the first week of release, peaking at number 67 on the UK Singles Chart.
The entry also made Wizkid the first Nigerian artist with two UK Singles’ entries from two albums.
Blessed – featuring Damian Marley
‘Blessed’ remans amog the top performing singes off the fourth studio album.
Wizkid recruited the services of Jamaican singer Damian Marley in this track that has over 5.4 million views on YouTube even though it has no visuals yet.
