How Diamond Managed to Assemble Tanzania All Stars Project

By Paul Amisi

Diamond Platnumz has shared how he managed to assemble over ten bongo musicians to work on a project honoring the late President John Magufuli.

Following Magufuli’s death, Diamond, under the Tanzania All-Star banner, released the ‘Lala Salama’ single.

Speaking during a recent interview, Diamond stated that initially, the idea was to work with only a few musicians.

In the beginning, he reached out to Juma Jux, who was with Marioo in the studio. They, therefore, resolved to call as many artists as possible.

Diamond adds that working on the song was easy, considering that other musicians also had a similar idea.

“...Lakini uzuri wasanii wezangu walikuwa na hilo wazo basi kama wasanii tukaungana pamoja tukafanya wimbo...tukapigana simu kama wasanii na kwa umoja tukuamua kufanya kitu ambcho kitamuenzi kiongozi wetu aliyetutangulia,” said Diamond.
The singer added as a media owner, and he had to show his gratitude towards Magufuli.

Alongside WCB members, other musicians who hopped on the project include Khadija Kopa, Ben Pol, Maua Sama, Goodluck Gozebert, among others.

Before recording the song, Diamond was shooting a music video alongside Mbosso, which was eventually postponed.

Diamond noted that it did not make sense to proceed with the shoot when the country was still mourning.
