Net worth: Roberto was born in Chipata in a family of nine. He is the last born who would carry the musical genes that his family had. His life revolved around Chipata and Lusaka.

How did Roberto begin his music career?

In 1996, Roberto started his music career with inspiration from his elder brother David Banda alias General Ozzy. He tried to curve his own way and not ride on his brother’s success back in the day and it has yielded so much hitherto.

When he expressed his desire to pursue music, his mother was supportive of his bid.

Roberto’s passion saw him record music while still schooling in Johannesburg and sold five of the songs for commercial purposes. He had a studio on rent for one hour which he used to record his music. It is during one of the sessions that some artistes in the studio offered to buy his music after listening to his record.

When he returned to Zambia, he went full throttle with his music and headed to Kabwe where he met B Flow. He became his manager for six months but also worked alongside his brother General Ozzy. His debut song was ‘Operator’ which he did with B Flow.

2008 was a great year for him as he signed with Sling Beats and did a song with Chali Mulalami in an album dubbed ‘Akasuba’. He became a celebrity and in 2012, gave an electrifying performance in Namibia.

This was his first event beyond Zambian borders and he nailed it. In September the same year, he released his third album ‘My name is’ which further cemented his fame in the industry. The album was widely played in South Africa and Namibia.

By the time he released ‘Amarulah’ in 2014, Roberto was a revered Zambian artiste. ‘Amarulah’ broke the record and became an international hit played widely in Europe. Today, he owes much of his success to this song that opened the doors to the international stage. There are a lot of collaborations that he has done with different artists both in Zambia and beyond, notably is ‘Te Amo’ with Rwanda’s Butera Knowless.

Besides music, he is a script writer, a producer, a DJ, a radio host and a programmer. He co-owns BrathaHood music label with his elder brother.
