Petersen Zagaze to Contest Parliamentary Seat in August

Zambian artiste Petersen Zagaze (Mundia Mukubesa) is not falling back on his bid to join politics as August 12, 2021 General Elections approach. Petersen seeks to dethrone incumbent Nalikwanda MP Prof Geoffrey Lungwangwa.

He is a formidable candidate who has penetrated Zambian politics as much as he is in the entertainment industry. He has in the past unsuccessfully vied for Lusaka mayoral seat.

Now, he is eyeing Nalikwanda which is his rural home. He hopes to turn around the region through his vast knowledge from his Business Administration studies (degree) which he earned from LIUTEBM University.

For a while now, Mukubesa has been active in social advocacy with his songs touching in the need for good governance and eradication of poverty. Some of his songs have sparked controversy in Zambia as they directly hit out at those in governance.

Four months ago, he released his ‘Life Yapa Zed’ hit which quickly became the ‘hustler anthem’.

In the song, he discouraged people from living from paycheck to paycheck.

“We cannot live life depending and expecting to survive on any monthly salary or reluctantly waiting for a government/formal employment and job, if we want to be successful in life,” he said in part.
