4 Prominent Families Currently Dominating Bongo Music Scene

The growth of the bongo music scene has seen some families come up and dominate the industry. Although the family members do not release music on the same level, their contributions to the industry cannot go unnoticed.
This article looks at the four Bongo music families currently dominating the Tanzanian music scene:
Diamond Platnumz and Queen Darleen
The two musicians are both working under the Wasafi record label. Although Diamond is the consistent one, Queen Darleen is known to be hopping on hit singles once in a while. The two singers share a father, having grown up together.

Alikiba and Abdukiba
Alikiba is the popular one among the two brothers. Both musicians work under the Kings Music label in different roles. Although Abdu releases music once in a while, he works behind-the-scenes supporting Alikiba’s career.

The Mdee sisters
They are Vanessa, Tero, and Mimi Mars. The Mdee sisters have ventured into different music genres, with Vannessa being the breakout star. On the other hand, Mimi Mars is known to drop secular music while Tero focuses on her gospel music career. Unfortunately, Vanessa called it quits in music last year.

Zuchu and Khadija Kopa
To many, it is still a surprise that Zuchu is the daughter of Taarab great Khadija Kopa. Both come from a musical family. In fact, Zuchu’s brother Omar Kopa was a prominent singer in Tanzania before his demise. When she was unveiled by Wasafi, one of her first songs was ‘Mauzauza’ featuring her mum Khadija Kopa.
