Sanaipei Tande Explains Why She’s Never Signed for a Record Label

Veteran Kenyan artist Sanaipei Tande has revealed why she’s never signed for a record label, stating that labels tend to impose what they think is working on artists, without taking into consideration their personal preference or style.

“I have always felt like record labels expect you to do what they think is working in the industry, and sometimes that may take away from your style or what values you uphold, or even away from your personality and your character simply because that is what is working,” she said during an interview on NTV’s The Trend show.

According to her, she uses her music to pass a message, impart knowledge and change lives. This she notes may not align with record labels whose main aim is to make money.

“Because for a record label, it’s about making money. As an individual artist for me, it’s about passing the message. It’s really not about the money. Yes, it would be good to make money… I put in the money to make the song, I put in money to make the video, it would be nice to get the money back. But it’s not going to be what I’m working for. It has to be that am passing the message, that I’m imparting some knowledge and that I’m changing people’s lives,” she concluded.

As a veteran Kenyan artist, Sanaipei has been blessing her fans with hit after hit for years and has been able to adapt with time and remain at the top of her game. In addition, she has been supporting other artists and helping them achieve milestones.
Recently, she was featured in 'Wangu' by Nadia which is currently doing well and already has over 7.6 million views on YouTube.
