Fast-rising Ugandan artist Quex has explained why he doesn't invest heavily in his music videos, noting that he is restrained by his financial muscle.

Quex became an internet sensation when he released this popular 'Kachumbali' jam over a year ago. However, its video which was released in March 2020, to some extent failed to meet the expectations he has set with the audio.

Speaking during a recent interview, Quex defended his low budget visuals, stating that he believes in steady progress and will one day achieve what he wants.

"They talked a lot of stuff saying my video cost me only 2K but I'm a person who believes in progress. I can't begin shooting a video worth UGX.15 million before I even buy a piece of land. I'm taking it slow." Quex told NBS After 5.

The ‘Kachumbali’ video was shot at Nkozi University and currently has over 1.9 views on YouTube.

The song’s massive success is credited to the numerous online challenges on social media platforms.

According to Quex, he did expect the song to go viral and become a big tune in Uganda.

"It was a beautiful song, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think it would have such an impact. It was first appreciated by students of Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi and it is there that the dance shuffle originated from before it went viral," he told Isaac Ssejombwe in an interview.
