Ammara Brown: How I Will Remember Soul Jah Love

The passing on of Zimdancehall artiste Soul Jah Love was a big blow to Zimbabwe’s songbird, Ammara Brown.

Ammara was one of Zimbabwe’s artistes who was hit hard by Soul Jah’s passing on. She not along ago spoke of the special moment she spent with the late singer that taught her an important lesson about the will to do great things in life.

“I had the honor of sharing a stage with Soul Jah Love a few times. But one particular night stands out in my mind. He was set to perform after me, so as I was leaving the stage he was arriving.

“Soul Jah was in a wheelchair, with his dancers, an entourage and security beside him. He got on that stage and set the crowd on fire!!! His energy and music transcended his physical limitations and he lit up the entire venue!! As I marveled with pride, I thought to myself; what an unstoppable force of nature. That is how I will remember him: powerful beyond comprehension,” she recalled.

Soul Jah succumbed to diabetes which he has battled since he was seven years old. His blood sugar went up on the fateful day and was pronounced dead on arrival at a Zimbabwean hospital.
