Firirinda: Ezekiel Mutua Endorses Viral Hit

The Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua has endorsed the latest trending song on social media dubbed ‘Firirinda’.

Taking to Twitter to show love to the current hit song, Dr. Mutua wrote that ‘Firirinda’ is based on Kenya’s culture adding that the jam has KFCB approval for consumption by people of all ages.

“Firirinda (Free rinda) is the kind of content we want. It's a nice traditional song based in Kenya's culture. The song is approved by KFCB for consumption by people of all ages. It depicts the warmth and joy of welcoming visitors (the African way)!” he tweeted.

In a subsequent tweet, Dr. Mutua informed his followers that the chair of Tamco Sacco Ephantus Maina is currently coordinating the re-launch of ‘Firirinda’ on Saturday at Icon Gardens on Saturday.

In addition, he shared a Paybill and account number for people to donate. “Finally! I got him and the Chair of Tamco Sacco Ephantus Maina is coordinating the re-launch of Firirinda Saturday at Icon Gardens on Saturday. Please donate whatever you can and let me know to acknowledge and appreciate. Dick Munyonyi Pay bill is 247247 Acc 330335,” he captioned.

Dr Mutua also posted some photos attempting the ‘Firirinda’ Dance Challenge with university student leaders at the National Student Leaders Summit which was held in Mombasa County.

‘Firirinda’ which was uploaded on Dick Njoroge’s YouTube channel seven years ago and currently has over 704,000 views due to the recent social media wave.
