There is no doubt Rayvanny has achieved massive success as a bongo musician. Most importantly, the singer is on his way to greatness as he embarks on a mission to win the global fan base.

However, before the success, Vanny Boy had an incredible journey. The singer began his career in High School where he was a rapper in his hometown of Mtwara. Although he was a talented rapper, Rayvanny notes that he quit music and focused on education as it was his only hope.

“Kitambo nilikuwa na rap, baadae nikaacha...nikaona mambo yangu niyaweke kwenye shule...nilikuwa nataka kuwa doctor flani,” said Rayvanny during a recent interview.

After clearing his high school, the singer joined a rap competition where he won the Mtwara and Dar es Salaam editions.

Through the competition, the singer briefly interacted with Babu Tale, who was among the judges.

Tale advised Rayvanny to switch from rap to singing when the competition moved to Dar es Salaam. Interestingly, he did not have a bus fare, so he had to be a conductor on a lorry to make it to Dar.

Through the shows, he met Mbosso and later Diamond Platnumz, who signed him to WCB, and the rest has been history.
