Tanzanian Government Pledges to Help Artistes Improve Their Earnings

Tanzanian Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Hon. Innocent Bashungwa has assured Tanzanian artists that the government will ensure they benefit from their work, which will in turn help in boosting the national income.
Speaking over the weekend in Arusha, Minister Bashungwa said he had partnered with Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority to help artists earn what they deserve.

He was speaking at a forum organized by the Tanzania Institute of Musicians (TAMUFO) whose role is to promote development, fight poverty, ignorance and disease and facilitate equitable sharing of musicians royalties.

“Nimetoa maelekezo kwa Chama Haki Miliki (COSOTA) wakamilishe mfumo utakaosaidia kutambua kazi za wasanii zinapotumika kwa kushirikiana na Mamlaka ya Mawasiliano Tanzania (TCRA) wahakikishe kila redio, TV, mabasi, baa ama kumbi za starehe ambao utatambua na kusaidia kukusanya mapato ambayo yatasaidia wananamuziki kunufaika na kazi zao,” Said Bashungwa.

Hon. Bashungwa’s remarks come as a reprieve to artists and effectiveness of the government’s effort to help artists in Tanzania.
Meanwhile, Arusha District Commissioner Kenan Kihongosi speaking on behalf of Arusha Regional Commissioner Iddi Hassan Kimanta said the region is safe and artists from within and outside the region are invited to do their work to increase their income.
