Celebrated singer, songwriter, and actor Otile Brown is currently a household name in the Kenyan music industry. His discography stands independently. As an independent artist, he has managed to create mainstream hits back to back. Some of his fan-favorite tunes include; ‘Alivyonipenda’, ‘Chaguo La Moyo’, ‘Dusuma’, ‘Watoto na Pombe’, and many more.

In addition, his look is always crisp, his cars lavish, and has managed to date some of the most beautiful women in Africa. But who really is Otile Brown? Where was he born? And has his life been a fairy tale? Otile was born in Kisumu, on March 21st, 1994. He is not an only child but has four other siblings.

His family moved from Kisumu to Mikindani Mombasa when he was still young. Unfortunately, he also lost his parents at a very young age. The demise of his parents did not only create financial constraints but also caused trauma in his childhood. The situation was so bad that at some point, he started selling second-hand clothes and liquor in order to make ends meet.

Through all the turmoils, music was his remedy. Luckily for him, he discovered his talent at the very tender age of 12, when he started writing rap. His official journey in the music industry started when he moved to Nairobi in 2013. Life was not easy, and he was forced to work as a hawker in order to make ends meet. He had a dream though, to meet Mzazi M Tuva at Radio Citizen and hand him his CD.

As they say, ‘the best-laid plans of mice and men often go wary’, Otile bumped on Jalang’o in his search for Mzazi. Jalang’o turned out to be the stepping stone he needed to pick up his career. He used the opportunity to discuss his music in detail. This particular conversation would turn out to be a life-changer in Brown’s life. After listening to both his music and his rap, Jalang’o advised him to quit raping and embrace singing instead.

He went a step further and advised him to choose between Dr. Eddie and Wyre to produce his songs. He chose to be signed under Dreamland Music Entertainment by Dr. Eddie and he began his journey. As if that was not enough, Jalang’o sponsored his first project. In 2017, Otile decided to break from the label and work as an independent artist. After going independent, Otile had to start from scratch after Dr.Eddie barred him from performing any music that he had produced under Dreamland.
