Alikiba Opens up on His Songs Being Blacklisted by Tanzanian Radio Station

Celebrated bongo musician Alikiba has shared his experience with media blackout for his songs.
Speaking during a recent interview, Alikiba stated that a local Tanzanian radio station had blacklisted his music for years. The ‘Aje’ hit maker, however, did not reveal the radio station or the reason why his music was banned.

According to the singer, he ignored the move and focused on releasing new music. Kiba added that the radio station later decided to lift the ban without any intervention.

“Ishawai nitokea lakini siwezi kwambia ni wapi...wameamua tu kutocheza ngioma yangu, zitachewa vituo vingine kwa hizo isha happen kwangu….walisema hawapigi ngoma yangu...nikaketi kimya until walivopiga,” said Alikiba.
He added that in the event he is blacklisted again, he will not contest it but politely seek an explanation.

Several bongo musicians like Diamond have in the past run into trouble with radio stations that refuse to play their music. Last year, celebrated singer Lady Jay Dee finally ended her feud with Clouds FM. For several years, the station had placed a ban on all Jay Dee’s music for unspecified reasons.
