Roma Retires from Music, Drops Last Song Dubbed ‘Diaspora’ Featuring Lady Jaydee [Video]

Tanzanian singer Roma Mkatoliki has announced his retirement from professional music 13 years after dropping his first single.
As a way of bidding farewell to his fans, the singer has dropped his final jam dubbed ‘Diaspora’ featuring Lady Jaydee.

‘Diaspora’ is emotional as Roma explains to his wife and kids that he was forced to leave Tanzania his home country due to his activism and fight for rights of the local mwananchi.

Roma encourages his family to stay put noting that such challenges are part of life.
“Umwambie sikupenda kuikimbia nchi yangu Kabla kalenda nimemkimbia mwanangu na sijui ninapokwenda sijui na mrithi wangu….” the song’s lyrics read in part.
Listening to the new release, you get to appreciate the fact that Lady Jaydee is one of the best vocalists in the region as she hit high notes without struggle.
The video has been received well and has over 50,000 views on YouTube in a few hours.
In an Instagram post, Roma noted that ‘Diaspora’ is his last jam, adding that he is forever grateful to all those who supported his music career for the past 13 years.

“Wimbo wangu wa kwanza niliutoa mwaka 2007. Wimbo wangu wa mwisho ninautoa muda wowote kuanzia sasa!!! na huu ndiyo utakuwa wimbo wangu wa mwisho! Asanteni kwa kuwa nami na kuni-support kwa kipindi chote cha miaka 13 niliyowahudumia kwenye sanaa hii ya muziki,” he said.
Roma's decision to quit music means that his partner Stamina will now pursue a solo career away from Rostam, which was their music group.
