Rapper Roma Mkatoliki has blasted Nigerian musicians for not reciprocating the support they receive in Tanzania.
In a series of tweets, Roma stated that more Nigerian musicians are earning loads of money from Tanzanian shows while the case is not similar for bongo artists.
“Idadi Ya Wasanii Wa Nigeria Wanaokuja Nchini Kuchukua Hela Za Mashabiki Ni Kubwa Kuliko Idadi Ya Wasanii Wa Bongo Wanaoenda Nigeria Kufanya The Same!Lakini Pia Naskia Ni Ngumu Kukuta Ngoma Za Wabongo Zikilia Nigeria Iwe Club Iwe Radio!Lakini cc Tunapiga Za Kwao,” said Roma.
His sentiments come after several Nigerian musicians led by Joe Boy, Rema and Wurld held a series of shows in the country.
He maintained that in terms of music mastery, there was no difference between Nigerian and bongo musicians. He singled Davido stating that his music originality is not unique compared to bongo acts like Barnaba.
“Siyo kama Hatuwapendi Wasanii Wa Nje,NO! Tunawapenda!Ila Hatupendezwi Na Mashabiki Wetu Wazawa Mnavyotafuta Excuse Na Kutusema Kuwa Eti Sisi Hatuna Ubunifu Kwenye Kuimba Kuliko Wao!! Sasa Nambieni Hapo Davido Kaonyesha Ubunifu Gani Katika Huu Wimbo, Ambao Barnaba Hana,” he posed.
In the tweetstorm, Roma shared a clip of Rema performing in Tanzania. He noted that despite massive reception, Rema ran out of breath just after three minutes.

He likened Rema’s performance to Gnako who was able to maintain a steady breath throughout his entire performance.
“Tunampenda na Tunamkubali Sana #Rema Lakini Imagine Intro Tu Alivyopanda Stage Kaanza KuHype Pumzi Imekata Dakika Ya 3Tu! Sasa Mtazame @GnakoWarawara Alichokifanya Dakika Zake Alizopewa!! Bado Tu Mtasema Hawa Jamaa Wanatuzidi MusicSkills!? Tuwe Tu Wakweli TZ,” posted Roma.
Roma sentiments are adding to the debate of Nigerian music dominating bongo airwaves at the expense of homegrown talent.
