The entertainment industry in Rwanda is poised for a major comeback as the Cabinet gave a nod to phased resumption of live performances.

Led by President Paul Kagame, the Cabinet directed that phased resumption of live musical performances will resume under strict COVID-19 protocols.

With the nod, Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and Ministry of Youth and Culture and the City of Kigali will create a framework for the resumption in 15 days.

This was welcomed with open arms by different players in the industry.

Some artistes tried to look for ways to keep their music alive and entertain their fans by hosting virtual performances," Intore Masamba, a Gakondo-styled artiste said as quotes by the New Times Rwanda.

Without live performances, artistes are literally on the edge financially. Live shows account for a huge revenue stream for artistes and without it, they have to rely on YouTube and other means of survival.

Clarisse Karasira has been holding her album for a while now but will release it on December 26 following the relaxed restrictions on live performances.
