Tanzanian Government Hails Diamond, Nandy & Zuchu for Clinching 2020 AFRIMMA Awards

The government of Tanzania has come out to congratulate Dimond Platnumz, Nandy and Zuchu for winning in different categories in the 2020 AFRIMMA music awards.
Through a statement, government spokesperson Dr Hassan Abbasi noted that the win was proof that Tanzania is a talent hub.
During the virtual awards held on Sunday, Diamond Platnumz emerged as the best male musician in East Africa beating other acts like Alikiba and Khaligraph Jones.
On the other hand, Nandy overcame stiff competition from the likes of Tannasha Donna and Zuchu to emerge as the best female musician in East Africa.
Another Wasafi signee, Zuchu clinched the best newcomer award in Africa.
Following the victory, Abbasi promised continued support for the art industry.
“Tuzo hizi ni ishara za wazi kwamba nchi yetu imesheheni johari zenye thamani na tuna magalakacha wa kutosha katika mawanda wa muziki wa kizazi kipya. Serikali...itaendelea kuwawekea mazingira bora wasanii wetu katika miaka hii mitano ili kuongeza ufanisi na mafanikio zaidi ya haya,” said Abbasi.
The AFRIMMA awards are usually held annually in the United States, and they are in collaboration with the African Union.
This year’s awards were held virtually due to coronavirus restrictions considering that the U.S is one of the most affected countries globally.
