Last month, Sheebah Karungi hit a new milestone in her career after she became the first Ugandan to be nominated for an award in the prestigious MTV Europe Music Awards 2020 edition.

The Team No Sleep diva was nominated in the 'Best African Act' category alongside bigwigs like DRC's Gaz Mawete, Nigeria's Rema and Burna Boy, South Africa's Master KG, Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa.

She unfortunately lost to South Africa's Master KG who won the award for his viral hit single 'Jerusalema'.

Speaking in an interview with NBS TV during her birthday celebration on Wednesday night, Sheebah conceded defeat saying Master KG deserved the win.

"All those who cared for me to win, I'm thankful. I've also done so much to see that I win, but the thing is you don't abandon a God given opportunity because you see no hope of winning, just give it your all and not just win.

"Master KG has 200 million views in just a year for Jerusalema. Personally, I'm obsessed with the song. So being in the same category with Burna Boy, Master KG, Rema and so many big artists puts me somewhere on the map. I accepted that they would win," she said.

She thanked her fans for the support accorded so far and urged them to vote in large numbers so that she can win the next time she’s nominated.

"I thank my fans and call upon you to vote for me the next time I'm nominated I may not have won today but I will next time. It was only right for Master KG to win," Sheebah concluded.
