Renowned Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz has shared his view on joining politics after several artists ditched music for the lucrative career.

Diamond has been busy in the campaign trail drumming up support for President John Magufuli's reelection.

The singer has even remixed some of his popular hits to suit Magufuli's campaign agenda.

However, speaking during an interview early this week, Diamond noted that he has no intention of joining politics any time soon.

He has, however, stressed that he remains supportive of political leaders who carry out their political mandate correctly.

"Honestly, not yet. As a Tanzanian, I will support anyone who will bring development but at the moment, I want to be fully in the music industry to bring development," said Diamond.

Some famous musicians who have ditched art for politics include Mwana FA, Baba Levo, and legendary rapper Prof. Jay.

Diamond's manager Babu Tale also vied for a Parliamentary seat in October 28th elections.

While on the campaign trail with Magufuli, Diamond was joined by Alikiba, Harmonize, Rayvanny, Zuchu, Nandy, among other top bongo musicians.

At some point, Magufuli called out Alikiba and Diamond to unite for the country's sake. The Head of State noted that unity is the only way to propel the bongo music scene to another level.
