Zimbabwe’s zimdancehall artiste Mgcini Calvin Nhliziyo alias That Luveve Boy has passed on.

The 35-year-old artiste based in Bulawayo is said to have been involved in a hit and run accident on Saturday night.

He was a few meters from his house when the accident occurred. Family members say he had been with his friends watching a Liverpool match with Sheffield United at Emakhandeni Cricket Club in Luveve which made him get back home late.

On Monday, friends and relatives trooped in sending tributes to the late artiste.

Bulawayo Mayor Solomon Mguni led mourners in sending tributes to the artiste’s family. He praised That Luveve Boy as an artiste who was true to his culture and one who made bold decision to make Bulawayo a traditional hub.

“The City joins the Nhliziyo family, Bulawayo and the nation at large in mourning and celebrating the life of the talented and illustrious son of the City of Kings. The untimely passing of Cal_Vin has robbed Bulawayo and the world of a promising musician and artiste who embodied the role of Bulawayo as a cultural hub,” the mayor said.

“We are sad to lose a selfless member of the community who strive despite numerous challenges to share his outstanding talent and nurture upcoming musicians. Our greatest sympathy goes to the Nhliziyo family. The City’s creative arts sector is poor without him. May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
