Rwandan singer Bruce Melodie is battling a new storm days after deciding to go a new way with Gakondo style of music.
He is battling backlash and criticism from his fans who felt that he has drifted from his authentic style of music which is Afrobeat and RnB.
Bruce had in the past come under heavy fire over his explicit nature of music videos.
With ‘Gakondo’ style, he sought to rebuild his image but it ended with a lot of disapproval by his fans.
‘Gakondo’ takes up a traditional approach of music which is far off the Afrobeat and RnB genres that he is known for.
His first Gakondo-styled song is titled ‘24’. The new song features Charles Shima; a diaspora-based Rwandan artiste.

‘24’ is a song in which a young Rwandan reflects on his absence from his motherland and what he felt when he came back 24 years later.
“This is a story that many people who have been uprooted can relate to. A story of how he missed his home and how he found it in the melodic voice of East Africa’s most popular Artiste - Bruce Melodie,” the synopsis of the song reads.
Interestingly, a section of his fans said that ‘24’ was culturally amazing but was not the thing for Bruce Melodie. ‘24’ infuses hip hop and Gakondo style.
