American-born Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer Davido has condemned recent incidences of arson and looting that have been witnessed during perceived protests pushing for reforms in the police force.

The looting and arsons have become rampart since the infamous Lekki killings where it is alleged military personal shot at protestors killings several of them and many others were left nursing gunshot injuries.

Commending on the happenings, Davido in thread on Twitter expressed concerns that what started as a peaceful protest had been "hijacked and turned into complete anarchy".

The singer who has been among the celebrities that were actively involved in the #EndSARS protests noted that burning businesses and looting was a total disrespect to those that lost their lives during the peaceful protest.

"It is painful that what started as a peaceful protest has been hijacked and turned into complete Anarchy, in total disrespect to those that lost their lives during the Peaceful protest. This is def not the way to honour those that lost their lives while protesting peacefully," read one of Davido's tweet.

"What is there to gain from burning and looting private businesses that provide employment to our own people?? Or burgling or burning houses belong to innocent citizens?! Or burning Buses that our own people depend on for transport to go to work and go about their lives???," he added in another post.

Since the Lekki killings, there has been several incidences of businesses being burnt down and others looted in what has been seen as retaliation from the #EndSARS protestors.

However, according to Davido, such acts are unnecessary and need to stop.

"Why burn police stations, when one of our demands was better police welfare and training??? Please stop stop stop stop! It all makes no sense whatsoever !! If you know anybody partaking in this, tell them to stop!!," he tweeted.

Davido also expressed the need for law and order to reign so as to ensure their push for real change is achieved.

"We need a Country where there is law and order for us to make any real change !!! Please stop!," he said.

For about two weeks now, Nigerian youths have been holding protests across the country in their bid to push for reforms in the police force with one of their demands being disbandment of the dreaded special anti theft unit - SARS.
