At a tender age of 17 years, Zimbabwe’s Gweru artiste Leona Lilie has caused ripples in the industry. Her influence is more than her age, many say but to the young Lilie, music is all she can breathe and dream of.
A month ago, Lilie’s Accapela cover of ‘Wakaemba’ song done by Zimbabwe dancehall duo Tocky Vibes and urban grooves crooner ExQ cemented her newly-found fame.
Inspired by the feedback and the support she was getting, she went on to do several other covers and true to her talent, she did not disappoint at all.
Lilie awed her fans with her first collabo ‘He Knows’ which she did with Andiswa Mbantsa. It is an amazing song! And when they thought she was all about this new collabo, she served another pleasant surprise with a brand new single, “Ntombi” which is just a week old and enjoying massive airplay in this Southern Africa country.
‘Ntombi’ has so far garnered 3,000 views on YouTube. Lilie’s strong vocals and musical spirits are God-given attributes which she has capitalised on to endear herself to the dynamic Zimbabwean entertainment industry.
Ntombi’s message to the millennial generation is having confidence which marks a new chapter in her music career.
“‘Ntombi’ is my first original piece and announces a new chapter in my musical career,” said Lilie.
The new single was produced by Oskid Production & Puro Di Best and was sponsored by Lilie’s brother Gerry King.
