Diamond, Harmonize and Alikiba Earn Recognition by Tanzanian Government

The Tanzanian government has recognized the efforts of several bongo musicians in marketing the country to the world.
Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on Monday stated that over the last five years, the bongo music genre has become popular globally thanks to efforts by a few artistes.
The premier singled out Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, Alikiba, Rayvanny, and Vannessa Mdee as the torchbearers for the bongo music globally.

"Diamond, Harmonize tumekuwa tukishihudia mapokezi wanayo yapata huko nje wakitumbuiza muziki wetu huko nje. Kunao wengine kama Rayvanny, Alikiba na Vannessa Mdee na kadhalika. Hawa wadau wamefanya kazi ya kupeperusha bendera yetu na kupea nchi yetu sifa.(We have witnessed the reception of Diamond and Harmonize outside Tanzania while entertaining fans. Other artists like Rayvanny, Alikiba, and Vannessa Mdee have also flown our flag high giving our country pride)," said Majaliwa.
The premier made the recognition while addressing Parliament on various contributions made by different sectors over the last five years.
The recognition does not come as a surprise considering that the bongo music expanded internationally in the last five years.
Through various collaborations, the music has penetrated the Nigerian, South African, and American markets. Wasafi’s Diamond Platnumz has been the leading figure in popularizing the bongo music globally.
