The Bongo music scene keeps growing by the day and is currently one of the most listened to genres in the continent.

Several artistes are credited with taking Bongo to the world, with most being male.

However, all through the journey, a number of ladies have been very influential, and to date, we still have a number of female musicians dominating the Bongo scene.

This article looks at three top female musicians currently dominating the Bongo music scene.

1. Nandy

She has been in the limelight for almost 5 years now since her break out from the ‘Tecno take the stage’ talent show. She is one of the most consistent, and hardworking female artistes in Bongo. 2. Mauasama

She is famed for her viral hit song ‘Iokote’ featuring Hastone. She holds the record for the female Tanzanian musician with the most views on a single video on YouTube. She recently featured in Juma Jux’s latest song ‘Covid 19’ and her vocals were impeccable.

3. Zuchu

The ‘Kwaru’ singer is new to stardom but has since picked up pace since her signing at the Wasafi Records. At first, people criticized Diamond Platnumz for signing a “taarab singing girl” for bongo but Zuchu has proven otherwise. Two months after she was signed, she has done very well and is currently topping several charts.

In addition to the three, other female artistes who are doing well in the country include; Amber Lulu, Queen Darleen, Luludiva and Shilole.
