Tanzanian music director Kenny has given more information regarding the performance by Diamond Platnumz during the Africa Benefit Concert.

The performance left many people talking after it emerged that the entire performance was shot using a mobile phone and in one take.

Speaking during an interview on Thursday, Kenny stated that they were late to send the performance and setting up the entire production unit would have taken a lot of time.

Kenny further revealed that Diamond Platnumz’s manager Sallam SK did not approve the use of a mobile phone to shoot the video.

According to Kenny, Sallam feared that using a mobile phone to shoot the performance would have degraded Diamond’s status considering that it was an international event.

“Nilitumia Mendez kipande that dakika moja na ikabidi akatuma, wakaipenda lakini Sallam mwenyewe hakupitisha. (I sent a one minute clip to mendez and he was forced to send it and they loved it. But Sallam did not approve it),” said Kenny.

However, Kenny points out that it is not about using a camera or phone but it depends on the creativity of the director.

During the Africa Day Benefit Concert, Diamond joined other African musicians for the virtual event that was meant to raise funds to help families impacted by the Coronavirus.
