Diamond, Nandy Set to Grace Idris Elba's 'Africa Day Benefit Concert'

Celebrated Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz and Nandy have been selected to perform at the upcoming virtual concert on Africa Day slated Monday, May 25, 2020.

The show dubbed ‘Africa Day Benefit Concert At Home’ will be hosted by popular Hollywood actor, writer, producer, rapper, singer, songwriter and DJ, Idris Elba.

Organised by ViacomCBS Networks Africa and YouTube in partnership with Idris Elba, the two-hour show will be streamed and broadcasted on MTV channels and on the MTV Base Africa YouTube channel.

Diamond and Nandy will perform alongside African greats that include; AKA, Angelique Kadijo, Burna Boy, Sho Madjozi, Yemi Alade, Fally Ipupa, Sauti Sol, Adekunle Gold, M.Anifest, Tofoon, C4 Pedro, Tiwa Savage, Teni and Rema among others.

The benefit concert is aimed at raising funds to help children and families in Africa who are affected by COVID-19.

All proceeds raised from the concert will be donated to support food and health needs for those most impacted on the continent.

The concert is timely, and comes at a time when many people in the continent are suffering due to lock downs and other guidelines issued by various governments to combat the pandemic.

In some countries, food distribution among the affected persons has not been done effectively, leaving many people languishing in hunger.
