Tanzanian singer Zuchu has delved into her first meeting with Wasafi boss Diamond Platinumz.

Speaking during her EP launch ‘I am Zuchu’, the new WCB singer stated that Diamond advised her not to abandon her taarab tone.

“When I met with the WCB boss, he told me to stick to my Taarab tone but diverse into English vocals,” said Zuchu.

Zuchu said that she stands out as a female musician because of her ability to write and also her taarab music background.

The new artist is the daughter of Khadija Kopa; who is a legendary Taarab sensation in Tanzania, and the entire East African region.

She further explained that the release of the EP was meant to introduce her to fans by giving them a glimpse of what to expect in the coming years.

Zuchu was launched as the new WCB artist last week and immediately released her ‘Wana’ single that has received much airplay across Africa.

By press time, the song had amassed over 1.2 million views on YouTube.

She now joins the likes of Rayvanny, Mbosso, Queen Darleen and Lava Lava who signed for Wasafi some time back.
