Artist of the day: Rabbit aka Kaka Sungura

Rabbit aka Kaka Sungura born as Kennedy Ombima is one of Kenya’s top hip hop artists.
The artistic, poetic and passionate musician became popular through his hit single ‘Dodoma’ featuring Harry Kimani from his first album Tales of Kaka Sungura and back in 2011 got even more recognition after his single with Jorma of Lonely Island Spin The Globe became one of Kenya’s most viewed videos on YouTube with over 1.5 million hits.
Rabbit has over the years established himself as a force to reckon with In the Hip hop scene breaking barriers and setting the pace for several artists especially with his Ligi Soo remix that contained a total of 9 artists and lasted record 11-minutes.
Kaka Sungura released his 3rd studio album ‘Before the Success/Success Begins Now’ last year in a very successful launch and so far it has been performing exceptionally well.
“I usually tell people that I am lucky to be doing what I love and that’s what this album represents for me. It’s a celebration of what’s coming ahead; I’m turning over a new leaf and proclaiming my Future” shared Rabbit during an interview with Mdundo a while back.
This year he promised to work on the videos for the tracks in his new album, including the ‘Ligi Soo Africa’ remix that is set to feature some of Africa’s top hip hop artists from Nigeria, South Africa and Botswana.
