KENYA: Ugandan Sensation Cindy Sanyu Signs For Grandpa Records
28 April 2016

“It is no longer going to be as easy to be signed at Grandpa Records,” those were the words of the Grandpa Records CEO Refigah as they announced the signing of Ugandan songstress Cindy Sanyu to their record label.
Earlier today, the record label announced in a statement posted on social media that they had completed the signing of the Selecta hit maker on Monday 25 March, 2016.
The signing of the two-year deal went down at the Serena Hotel in Kampala. According to the statement, it took close to a year of convincing for the artist to sign,
“On behalf of the entire Grandpa Government we are happy and proud to welcome Cindy to our label,” read the statement.
The statement also highlighted the fact that the record label seems to have raised it’s standards of artist that it will sign in order to avoid what they termed as ‘mediocre artists’.
However Cindy who began as part of the Blu 3 trio together with Jackie Chandiru and Lilian Mbabazi, is anything but mediocre. As a group they rocked the whole of Africa at the ‘Coca Cola Pop Stars’ now more than a decade ago.
Now Grandpa Records is looking to make her the first female Ugandan artists to do an official tour in Kenya.
She slated to perform at the Deep west Resort in Nairobi on saturday the 30th of March, club one on one in Mombasa on the first of May, Sixty four Lounge in Nakuru on the 6th of May, Twenty Four Resort Eldoret on the 7th of May, then Voi, Kisumu, and Machakos-dates to be announced later. Phase two will start in July after a tour of the U. S.
