UGANDA: The World Bows Down And Says Farewell to African Legend PAPA WEMBA

Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba known to very many as Papa Wemba was born on february 1st 1949 in Lubele, Sankuru District, Congo and was a legend in Africa as well as the diaspora. He had hit songs that hit in the early 90s and was one of the first musicians to join the influential Soukous band, Zaiko Langa Langa after it was created in December 1969 in Kinsasha, along with many well known Congolese musicians including Nyoka Longo Jossart and Bimi Ombale, among others.
Papa Wemba helped contribute to the success of Zaiko Langa Langa so that, by 1973, it was one of the more successful Congolese groups with one of the busiest touring schedules. Soon its shows and concerts featured a string of their popular hits, including many that were written by Wemba. The latter included "Pauline," "C'est La Vérité," "Chouchouna," and "Liwa Ya Somo."
His demise came after he collapesed on stage during a performance and died in Abijan, cote D'Ivore yesterday on Sunday 24th April 2016 at the age of 66.
His music still live on and so does his memory as he influenced the lives of people in different generations.
