UGANDA: Daxx Kartel And Fellow Artists Survive Lynching In Mbale Once Show Goes Sour.

on saturday 17th april 2016, musicians  comical musician Daxx Kartel of the 'Baala' fame, David lutaloSpice Diana and Big Chief among others had been lined up to perform at one of Mbale’s hottest and freaquently gone to hangout spot, Thatch Gardens.

Trouble arouse when none of the musicians showed up on stage before midnight as advertised. Hundreds of the people who were in attendance lost patience and threatened to break the seats they were sitting on. The organisers calmed them down and one of the musicians, Big Chief finally came on stage a few minutes after 1am and apologised for the delay to come on stage. His apology was accepted and subsequently he went ahead with his performance.

However, the next musician, Daxx Kartel also delayed to come to stage and some people could be seen breaking their seats. When he finally did, they waited for him to perform his hit, ‘Baala’ and as expected, he finally belted out the ‘Baala’ after other performances but It appeared like the fans had been waiting for a certain part of the song to vent out their anger against Omuryeruba Urban Rujuju.

‘Abantu Bekuba amaccupa……Abantu bamenya Obutebbe……’, he sang .

And the already angered crowd began throwing bottles at him but using the little skills he learnt from Jet li movies, he flipped off the stage looking for only  cover under it meanwhile all the other artists that  had been anxiously waiting for their chance  to perform after him ran for their safety and within minutes, the whole place was in a total mess with chairs and bottles being broken.

The same place is no stranger to such incidents. In 2013, a show ended in a similar way after musicians; Ray Signature, Gravity Omutujju, King Saha, Rema, Sheebah among others failed to perform in spite of being behind the stage.

None wanted to go on stage before the other and what followed were bottles being hurled at the MC of the night, Afande Kelekele. Fortunately put his rugby refereeing skills to use and successfully ran out of danger. Chairs were also broken and bullets and teargas were still fired

All the other musicians who had been waiting behind the stage to perform after him ran for their safety and within minutes, the whole place was in a total mess with chairs and bottles being broken.

It took the intervention of the police that fired teargas and live bullets in air to calm the situation.
