KENYA: From the Streets to the Studio, Octopizzo Takes On Former Street Kid 'Vicmass Luodollar' as His New Protégé

From rags to riches is a story that ‘Namba Nane’ rapper Octopizzo can relate to, coming up from the slums of Kibera himself, his is undoubtedly one of the most popular success stories in the history of Kenya’s music scene.

Now the rapper who has established himself as one of the best in Kenya is now looking to take on young, inexperienced and underprivileged artists under his wing.

Earlier today the rapper took to social media to announce that popular Luo rapper Vicmass Luodollar, who like the Octopizzo had to struggle in his life, hustling to make money as a street vendor to pay for his recording and studio time

“I've seen this kid Grow from the streets of Kisumu since 2010, hawking biscuits and sweets under the hot Sun, saved money to get into the studio and record songs without any help, fight his way to mainstream media without any godfathers,” wrote Octopizzo.

“Am proud to say that he'll be under my management and we'll be dropping #BANKOTUCH Remix video Tomorrow! Am proud of you @vicmassluodollar patience pays. It's your time to take over.”
