Afro-fusion band Lulu and Zakaleo to release debut single today

Lulu and the Zakaleo Band is an Afro-fusion band based in Nairobi known for melding traditional African music with modern instruments and styles, and though some may not be too familiar with the band, they have had several successful live performances around town and internationally, recently performing at Tree House club where they delivered an impressive flawless live performance that kept the crowd on their feet.

As they make their debut to the mainstream industry, they are premiering their first album ‘Thembassa’ and first video to their debut single ‘Lekha’ today.

“Lekha simply means leave them and I believe this song really expresses our unique style.The song talks about the pain and passion of love and shows the struggles a couple is facing as they try stay true to each other despite people’s gossip”

Their Album Thembassa is exploration of human stories – love, struggle, relationships, and marriage – sung in Digo, Luyhia, English, and Swahili and Produced by JoostKappe ofB’ware, the ten tracks combine the global sounds of African classical, Linga-rumba, Reggae, Rock, Carribean,Kwaito, Mbalak, and Benga.
