KENYA: New Grandpa VP Visita Reveals the Truth About Why His Former Partner Kenrazy is No Longer Part of the Label

Well it’s settled, after weeks of speculation it has finally been confirmed that in fact rapper Kenrazy Ghipuka and record label Grandpa Records have parted ways.

And as for the question of whether the departure of the Mbilikimo Mkora rapper left as a result of bad blood between him and other principals of the record label, mainly the President Yusuf Noah a.k.a Refigah, the newly appointed Vice President Visita denied the claims.

Kenrazy was one of the prominent figures in the record label for a long time and was one half of a partnership that brought much success to the label.

He and the new VP Visita formed group Shida Mbili which left us with several hit records among them Vile Kunaendaga and Mapepo.

In his statement Visita said, "We would like to set the record straight. Our brother Kenrazy's two-year contract with Grandpa Records ended on January 1, 2016 at 5pm. We wish him well and there is no bad blood as some blogs have tried to put it. We don't believe that when a contract ends, people should fight or talk ill of each other. Life goes on. We are proud to have worked with him. He is a great artiste and we wish him well in his career."

He added that Grandpa had just launched its new band called Bendi Ya Serikali, made of himself, Dufla Diligon, Sagodizo, REV and Thamos, all signed at the label. Its first single, Ustaarabu, is currently on heavy rotation in the local media.

"We still have more in the pipeline from different artistes across East Africa. Through my experience I've learnt that patience and honesty pays. Every day we keep on growing and now our music is in over 18 African countries, thanks to the big team we have.
