Fresh from enchanting Nairobi revelers at January’s Ongea East African Summit with a taste of Ugandan West Nile culture, Suzan Kerunen is gearing up for 2016 in which she’ll put on her long awaited concert. The gig will also act as a belated launch to her Prima album whose title track is dedicated to her four-year-old daughter. Kerunen who holds the title of Tourism Ambassador is gearing up for yet another edition of the annual Pearl Rhythm Festival which she runs with her producer Jude Mugerwa. The festival has carved itself out as a talent-nurturing forum thanks to its Stage Coach segment in which musical prodigies with a palate for ethno-music are groomed to become future World Music stars. Outfits like the Undercover Brothers and Arpeggio Band have this talent development programme to thank for honing their music skill. The Pearl Rhythm Festival takes place at Kampala’s National Theatre in October as part of celebrations in Uganda’s Independence month. Download Suzan Kerunen's music soon at www.mdundo.com.
