Macklemore apologizes to Kendrick lamar for 'stealing' his Grammy

After Macklemore scooped away the Grammy for the Best Rap Album on Sunday during the ceremony at the Staples Centre Los Angeles, many fans were quick to react stating that it was unfair that Kendrick Lamar wasn’t honoured with the grammy, some even claiming that it was a racist choice.

However Macklemore was just as surprised as any other person and sent an apologetic message to Kendrick Lamar immediately after his speech telling him that he deserved the win,

'You got robbed. I wanted you to win. It's weird and sucks that I robbed you,' Macklemore wrote in his text to Kendrick.
'I was gonna say that during the speech. Then the music started playing during my speech and I froze,' he continued.

He further went on to congratulate Kendrick and shared his message to Kendrick with his more than 2.6 million followers on Instagram.

The rapper wrote in an accompanying post that he believed Kendrick 'deserved best rap album' and also thanked fans for their support.

Macklemore and Lewis won a leading four Grammy Awards on Sunday, including Best Rap Album, Best New Artist and Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for Thrift Shop

The Heist album with collaborator Ryan Lewis beat out Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City by Kendrick as well as rap albums by Jay Z, Drake and Kanye West.

Kendrick was nominated for seven Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, Album of the Year and Best Rap Song, F***in' Problems .

Kendrick performed onstage at the Grammys with Best Rock Performance winner Imagine Dragons in a spirited rendition of thumping Radioactive that wowed the crowd and indeed proved that he is indeed the King of the rap game.
